After missing last month’s instalment of the Happy List series, I felt like it was time to switch it up a bit. I’m no longer sticking to the actual “list” layout, but the general idea isn’t all that different – I just wanted to have a freer way to take stock of the months that go by. Let’s see if this works?
For me, June was a great month work-wise and it went by in the blink of an eye. Although I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been on the work front since around Easter, the last few weeks have been even better. Alongside a few personal events that went well, I’ve enjoyed (nearly) every minute of my job(s) in general and I’ve felt so fortunate to love what I do, and to also learn so much from it on a daily basis. My workload eases during the summertime, and although having some more time to myself is a definite bonus, I’m actually a little sad about it!
Of course, June also brought so much anger, violence and grief around the world where too many countries and people have suffered, and I’d never felt such a heavy atmosphere in London as I did the day after the EU referendum. The horrific shootings in the US have only continued into this month, and the news is often too much to handle. I’m not sure what more I can say.
On a brighter note, one thing that can truly bring people together (unless you are idiotic English or Russian hooligans, apparently) is sports, and there has been plenty of excitement and emotion watching the Euro Cup and Wimbledon. Needless to say, we are very excited about France being in the final, and of course I’m cheering on Murray! I love watching the hard work of these athletes come to fruition, and find it so inspiring. I’m so looking forward to the olympics!!
E and I can’t wait to go on holiday in a couple of weeks to the Amalfi Coast! We’re staying in Praiano, and planning to visit Positano, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello… but we definitely want to spend a couple of days simply relaxing on the beach and doing nothing much at all, which sounds utterly blissful. Any recommendations are welcome!
